Back to Ona Speedway for a 4th of July race. Jake would return in his 14 Late Model and Jason in the 71 Classic. Lots of work was done to both cars as Jakes Late Model Stock Car had been getting all of the attention since early April. Everyone was excited to see how both cars did after hey recieved some care.
Jake practiced and was fast right out of the trailer. Some moderate adjustments were made before the feature and Jake drew 4th place starting position out of only 5 cars. On the start he fell to the back and was in the middle of a scuffle between two other drivers. Somehow he managed to pass them both and quickly picked his way to the lead. Jake seemed much faster than any of the other cars and pulled the field by 5 car lengths each lap he ran. Unfortunately only 6 laps in Jakes rear end gear went out forcing him out of the race. It was dissapointing to have a mechanical failure on what what was shaping up to be such a dominant night.
Jason was trying out a fresh motor and found it to be just as great if not better then the last. He started 7th in the 11 car field and creeped his way towards the lead in 10 laps. He lead the rest of the way and was able to pickup his 10th career victory in 2 years and 3rd this year. Motor Mile speedway is the place next Saturday, July 8th...
