Race #2 of the Motor Mile season got underway on Saturday for once after two straight races of rainouts.
Some chassis modifications were made and Jake llooked forwad to hopefully a top 10 run this week around. The first practice session was an improvement from the previous week but Jake still complained about the car being so tight, a condition he has fought all year long. After a spring change Jak ewas ready for the second session where he complained that the car was still very tight.
Qualifying came up next and The team talked anout what changes to make before Qualiying and the race. Some major adjustments were made to loosen the car up and help Jake pick up some speed. He went out to qualify and for the first time all year the car was loose but it was very loose. He qualified 20th with a time of 16.343. It was very dissapointing but we were all glad he did not wreck the car.
After qualifying Jason and Jake talked about some changes that needed to be made to the car. It was very loose this time Jake reported so we went backwards so far the try and get the car right.
The Race began with Jake being conservative ate first looking for any crashes. After a few laps the the racing settled down Jake started moving his way up through the field and reported that the car was handling pretty well.
He made it up to 15th when on lap 40 he skated toward the turn 4 outside wall. Jake fought hard to hang on to the car and did manage to keep the nose pointed in the right direction. A flat right rear tire would be the culprit as Jake pulled the Sherwin Williams Monte Carlo to the trailer to have a close look as the why the tire cut down. Further observation proved that the tire had rubbed the RR spring which eventually popped the tire. Jake wound up a dissapointing 21st knocking him down in points a little. Next week its back to Motor Mile Speedway.
