It was the last race of the season at Ona Speedway which meant it was championship time. Jake was going for the Late Model Championship and Jason was going for the classics championship. All Jason had to do was start to clinch it but Jake needed to finish only a few spots behind 2nd place points runner Jeff Arthur. Jake had been fighting the Late Model most of the year as the car had really handled worse and worse as the year went on. Work was done all week to prepare the three race cars. Another engine was put in Jakes classic since he blew up an engine the week before. Jake did not expect to run well in the late model due to running old tires since he did not want to buy any for just one race. The classics ran first as Both Jake and Jason started on the tail. It was a long race filled with caution after caution and Jake nad Jason came through the field slowly. Jason made it to 2nd behind 2nd place points runner Chad Bailey and ran less than a foot off of his bumper the entire race. Jake meanwhile raced hard for 3rd tangling with the 28 Cody Frye numerous times throughout the race. Eventually Jake moved into 3rd and stayed there. Jason raced hard the entire race but just didnt have the traction coming out of the turns to get underneath the leader. He finished 2nd but clinched the championship. Next up was Jake in the late model. He ran 2nd for a few laps but as the race progressed his car got worse and worse. He was patient though knowing all that he had to do was finish the race. He wound up 4th at the end of the night glad to win the championship but unhappy about the way the car ran all year long. It was an excellent year for the team capturing 10 wins and both championships in the classes we run in. Now though we look forward to 2006 and the Late Model Stock Car as Jake tries to make it to something bigger.
