It was a tough week at Jake Keaton Racing as Jake tried to heal up from his wreck the previous week. All week the team scurried to try and repair Jakes mangled race car for the next race. It took a lot of time and effort but the crew got it back together and ready to race by Friday evening. We were all excited to hopefully see a lot of Late Models this week but not as many as we thought would came out.
Jake started the day in practice jittery about seeing how the car would handle after last weeks incident. He was not very happy after the first practice session complaining of the car being way too loose. We made some adjustments and he went back at it. Once again it was loose but not as bad as before so we sat to discuss our plans for changing him before the feature event. Jake drew the 4th starting position which was on the tail. Jake started the race and sliped into 3rd after turn 1. Jake then would ride 3rd in what was an exciting race up front. Jake was much faster than both lead cars but everytime he would go to make a move he would be cut off or ran up the track. Jake did not want a repeat of the week before so he just sat back and waited for something to happen between the two leaders. Sure enough it did after vigorous and rough racing they got together and one spun but both cars were sent to the tail for blocking and spinning. This gave Jake the lead and he just ran off with it after that and captured his 2nd feature victory of the season. It was a big comeback from the previous week.
Dustin just ran the classic this weekend as repairs were still being made to the modified. With all of his attention focused on it this weekend he was unbeatable as he grabbed the lead after a few laps and never looked back as he ran on the his 2nd straight win.
It was Jason's third race but he only got to run 5 laps as his car snapped a belt leaving him without power steering or anything cooling the engine. He pulled off the track not wanting to blow the engine up like what almost happened the first race.
